New Mcjobs Touted

Today Fox News reports that Wal-Mart will add 22,000 jobs at US located namesake stores, down from 33,800 last year. Despite the recession, Wal-Mart continues to prosper. Shoppers are looking for the most bang for their ever dwindling buck, and Wal-Mart, has thrived on manipulation of costs by exploiting manufacturing in China, abusing human resources, and soaking in corporate welfare. Wal-Mart bottom-feeds in tough economic times like the proverbial atomic cock-roach.

According to Eduardo Castro-Wright, vice chairman of Wal-Mart stores, “During this difficult economic time, we're proud to be able to create quality jobs for thousands of Americans this year.”

Of these new jobs, Michigan will benefit the most with 1,500 positions ranging from management to store clerks. Of these “quality” jobs, the average worker will be paid 2K a year short of the federal poverty level, and will join a list of growing employees who rely heavily on state and federal health care subsidies to the tune of an estimated $23,235,602 annually.

"At Wal-Mart, we offer competitive pay and benefits and real opportunities for our associates to advance and build careers. Job creation is just one way in which we're working hard every day to help people across this country live better."

According to Forbes.com, Eduardo Casto-Wright has a total compensation of $9,987,493.00 for 2009, so at least for him, this statement is factual.

According to Richard Studley, president and CEO of the Michigan Chamber of Commerce, “We are excited that during these economically challenging times Wal-Mart is investing in Michigan by creating good paying jobs and offering benefits to their employees…The positive impact that these jobs will have on the families of the new employees and their communities cannot be overstated."

By overstated, Studley, is clearly not referring to the cold cost of Wal-Mart induced subsidies such as Coldwater, Michigan’s commercial development block grant of $1,875,000, elevated state and federal health care costs, or tax-payer crushing real-estate deals (Michigan charged Wal-Mart $1.00 for land it purchased for 500K).

We talk about the wonders of free enterprise and less government, but the overwhelming trend is a collaboration of manipulation orchestrated by our elected officials and the corporations we allow into our communities.

Richard Studley, has been actively supporting cost saving reform measures. One such measure Studley supports is to eliminate the Department of History, Art and Libraries, and move that function to other state agencies. One hastens to wonder where our priorities stand. Strip malls in--culture out.

Congratulations are in order for, Mr. Studley, the working poor of Michigan, and the creation of the newly promised Mac-jobs.

Ah, and this is what we call captitalism in America today and Fachism in Germany in the 1920's and 30's. The progressives strike again
